解放初期的云南苗寨，人們翹首盼望著政府的馬幫早點(diǎn)來，他們給邊民生活帶來極大的方便。張連長(zhǎng)（吳漾 飾）接到指示，要他們保護(hù)馬幫的安全。匪隊(duì)長(zhǎng)畢根（程之 飾）化裝成瑤人混入村寨和小店主李三（梁山 飾）接頭，把馬幫要來的消息轉(zhuǎn)告匪司令（方伯 飾），匪兵們欲搶劫馬幫，被邊防軍擊潰。匪徒們又在策劃新的陰謀，一天，哈尼寨收到一張匪徒開列的單子，要他們準(zhǔn)備糧食送給過路匪軍，區(qū)委書記（馮奇 飾）和張連長(zhǎng)分析這是敵人聲東擊西的詭計(jì)，真正意圖是搶劫貨物，邊防軍和民兵們布下口袋陣等敵上鉤。經(jīng)過一場(chǎng)激烈的戰(zhàn)斗，他們打敗了敵人，救出了被俘的藍(lán)蒡（孫景璐 飾）。各村寨邊民歡欣鼓舞，感謝政府派來的馬幫......
